There are 12 Legal Reasons  Why You Could Be Evicted

If: 1) You do not pay your rent 2) You violate a term in your contract 3) You do not renew or sign a new contract that is the SAME as the expiring contract. 4) You are a nuisance. 5) You use the apartment for illegal activities. 6) You deny the owner entrance to your apartment if he/she has given you 24 hours notice. 7) You are not the person who applied for or signed the contract and live in the unit with out owner approval or consent. 8) The Owner needs the apartment to move in his/her spouse, child, parent, manager and/or him/herself. 9) The Owner is going to demolish the building. 10) The Owner wants to remove the apartment from the housing market. 11) The Owner has been told by a government agency to vacate the units. 12) The Owner of the building is "HUD" and wants to sell it.

If you are being evicted for reasons 8-12, it is required by law that you be compensated for relocation costs.  The law requires that you receive between $6,810 to $17,080, plus other relocation benefits.
